After being brought into the program in 2013, Ulysses has been a special horse to many riders. Just like Bundy he can be quite cheeky and stubborn but once his rider is confident and has their ‘bossy boots’ Ulysses is a dream to ride. Unlike outside the centre, RDA ponies and horses are prided on their good nature. Ulysses is no different, he can be competently ridden by a child as young as 4 as long as they’re ready to show him who’s the boss. Ulysses has recently stared in a major therapy lesson for a highly disabled rider, having an unbalanced weight and two side walkers did not affect him at all, as he knows the importance of his job. Until recently he was the head of the herd but has been challenged by new comer Jinka. In 2013 when staff were looking for new horses the Ulysses Club stepped forward to donate the cost of the horse as well as on-going sponsorship.
